The End Determines the Meaning
What matters most to your life story is how does it end? Every great epic tale ever told, be it a book, a movie or whatever art form it assumes follows a classic progression.
First the hero feels the call of a mission, a dream of aspiration, a foretelling of their fate in life. And they rise up to embark on a quest, a long journey to reach their calling.
Along the way, they encounter those who trick and deceive them; those evil ones who ruthlessly swindle and steal from them; and those who tempt them to relinquish their quest and become something far less.
And the hero, or heroine, fight through the endless obstacles they face, being battered and scared by the harsh experiences, until they reach a final challenge, a final test of courage and strength.
And when they met that fateful appointment with destiny, nothing else matters but that victory. Not the victories or the defeats before. What matters is only that final moment of truth. And when the grand conclusion occurs, their outcome determines the meaning of everything.
When one wins the final victory, all the suffering, all of the struggles become precious memories that led up to the final moment of truth. For in the final victory, the ending determines the meaning of all that has gone before it.
So when obstacles challenge you to doubt the meaning of your quest, the purpose of your struggles, remember that only your final moments of your life will form the ending to your life story and the meaning of your life.
Never stop fighting until your last breath, for only at that moment will you be able to look back and see exactly the victory your life has achieved.
