Winning Ways of Successful People
Negative Patterns
Worry/fear of Failure – The most prominent deterrent to success. Fear paralyzes people from taking the risk to advance. Others become so overly focused on worrying about making a mistake, they never take the steps forward. Others, wanting to protect their security and stay in their comfort zone, are powerless to take chances and risk failure. Fear and worry feel like a knot in the stomach, a rapid, pounding heartbeat, and a squeezing sensation in the throat that makes it hard to swallow.
Being a People-Pleaser – These types are so dependent on receiving approval that they view lack of agreement by others as a personal rejection. If you have a revolutionary idea, product or service, most people will be skeptical. One must believe in themselves and their master plan and not be dependent on acquaintances that are stuck in their limited jobs for moral support.
Positive Patterns
Standing Alone – Daring to go forward and execute your personal vision requires courage, the dominant trait of a leader. When others doubt you, sticking to your convictions is what not only propels you forward; it’s what inspires others to follow you. Stick to your plan, stay with your convictions unless you see wisdom in an alternative suggestion.
Persistence – Everyone experiences ups and downs. Persistence means focusing on solutions, not dwelling on the problems. The truth is that many failures are the springboard to success. The solution to the problem has brought you a better way of accomplishing your goals. Rather than seeing a failure as a personal defeat, successful people look for the hidden lesson within the problem. The obstacle is pointing you to a better way of improving your situation.
Managing Your Time – There’s so much to do, if you try to do it all either you’ll feel overwhelmed or be so occupied that you don’t make progress in the most crucial areas. In business, there is a famous formula called the 80/20 principle, which is translated as:
20% of your efforts will account for 80% of your results.
In a list of 10 things to do, 2 items will turn out to be more essential for your success as the other 8 items put together.
The most valuable challenges are often the hardest and most complex.
Therefore, you must choose the key tasks (over the others) to be successful. Attack these problems and stay with them until they are solved. Don’t set a deadline, it may take longer than you project and rushing may wind up producing an inferior outcome.
If your process is prolonged, step back away from the action and allow your mind to speculate. When you’re away from the stress, you can be receptive to a new insight, idea or method that could point to a dramatic breakthrough. The answer is out there, if you are open to see it.
